Because there is more Crochet with my Tour of Textile Arts Gallery B, I have two more crochet projects to review with my gallery viewers. The first one is a light and airy filigree designed for an art project as opposed to using it in a throw. But, it would make a great table runner, using a smaller hook.
Now, the second one was done using a really pretty stitch to highlight colors. So, I played with that all the while playing with the light and dark tones of blue, in between the amazing colors. And, turned out to be the size of a small throw. However, both were done with left over yarn from other projects. You’ll see them in future galleries.
“Free Form Filigree 2023”
This pattern I found online. It’s a really pretty pattern, but because of all the space in between, making a throw or blanket would not work well. You can see what I mean from the pictures. Also, the pattern was started as a table runner, but soon decided to change it into a wall hanging as I got further into it. It looks better that way, I think!
Textile Ingredients;
- medium weight Brown
- medium weight Purple
- medium weight Pink
- medium weight Blue
- medium weight Grey
- medium weight Green
- Crochet Hook Size H
- good size stick 1″ diameter, long enough for project.
- Various wooden beads
Note; The stick I purchased from Hobby Lobby on sale for another project. But not necessary for this project. Outside sticks in the woods work well, unless you do not have access to that anywhere close to you. Just know they can be purchased at many craft stores.
Added to this beautiful filigree was the beads I added at the bottom for two reasons. One, for some weight as it is now a wall hanging. Two, for a more earthy tone and look with the stick that was used. I thought it balanced the wall hanging better. Also, I had the beads for some time and could actually put the hook through them. So, it happened to work out great!

“Colorful ZAG Throw” 2023 (small throw)
The most colorfully bold throw created thus far. However, due to the stitch it seems to lean to the left. Thus, the entire throw looks to be crooked. I think it gives it such a unique character! What do you think? And, I also used here the suggestion I gave for finishing the fringed edges on the free crochet pattern page created earlier.
With the colored lines of this project, I thought that particular edging was appropriate and more stream line for the look. That is usually decided after the main part of the project is completed.
Textile Ingredients;
- medium weight Red Heart Super Jumbo Royal
- medium weight Red Heart Jumbo Light Blue
- Various Colors (all leftovers)
- Crochet Hook Size H
Funny thing is if you count the stitches in the first row and last row, they are the same. Even when the optical illusion is telling your brain otherwise. And to think, I hadn’t completely planned this out but came out pretty fabulous.
