Italian Dip Hors d’oeuvres & More…

Well, I have for my community another good appetizer, Italian Dip Hors d’oeuvres & More. This one is a true gem, as it can be so versatile, but so easy to make. And it’s my new snack addiction. I have been putting this dip on almost everything. Not found anything I didn’t like with it.

Italian Dip Hors d’oeuvres on bread

So, let me go back to the start of this story. It all started last month at a friendly family card game night. You see, at least once a month we get together at my brother and sister-in-law’s home for a fun night of potluck foods and game of cards. My brother-in-law is a chef, so they usually have the meat and everyone else pitches in. Always good food is had by all! And the winning spirit comes out pretty loudly at times.

Well, this particular Saturday Night, my husband’s cousin and her husband were there and brought this dish. It was kind of a strange dip they had with salami and pickles. What a combination? But, I liked all the ingredients, so I thought I would try it. Next thing you know I’m hooked. I went out the next week to buy all the stuff to make my own. Also, just a side note, my husband does not like pickles, so more for me, of course!

Italian Dip Hors d’oeuvres

Now, let me explain how easy this dip is to make:

Italian Dip Hors d’oeuvres with veggies.

Two Ingredients ONLY for DIP ~

  • 1 package of Good Seasons Italian dressing mix
  • 1 package of cream cheese 8 oz.

Combine ingredients and mix or whip well. Place in the refrigerator for at least an hour or two, but best overnight. Here comes the fun part! All the good stuff to eat with it. Let’s start with the salami and pickles.

  1. Take a dollop of dip and spread on a slice of salami. Next, take a long slice of pickle and place in center of salami. Roll up salami with pickle inside and just eat it. It is so good! Or, slice up the salami wrapped pickles in bite size pieces. Stick a toothpick in each of them and wallah, you got a plate full of Hors d’oeuvres.
  2. Take regular crackers and spread some dip on top and eat as a quick snack or lunch even. I am sure any kind of cracker would taste great though. Maybe add some veggies, like a slice of cucumber. Maybe, some veggies & dip without the crackers.
  3. This is also great for dipping chips in, even bar-b-que chips. Try your favorites. You may want to go with the whipped cream cheese for this, as the regular cream cheese is a little thicker to dip. Or, add a 1/2 cup of Mayo to make thinner for chips. This is so good too!
  4. You can even stuff celery with this dip! Just what couldn’t you put this dip on?

Okay, I know your wondering about what kind of pickles to use. Well, there was a debate going on about that. My husband’s cousin was eating the sweet pickles (she doesn’t like dill pickles). Her husband was eating the dill pickles (he doesn’t like the sweet ones). I like both, so I tried both. My personal favorite is the dill pickle, but try them for yourself and pick your own favorites. It’s all about the dip! Or is it?
