All of us who have cats as pets knows that, not all Kitty Litter is the same. When you go to your local pet stores or department stores, with a pet section, they have a vast array of litters. And, I have tried many but definitely not all of them. However, I seemed to always come back to my favorite, Tidy Cat.
Tried & True…Kitty Litter
As far as smell and dust, Tidy cat seemed to do the trick for the most part. Now, to let you know, I have nine cats. So, you can only imagine how much fun I have scooping and changing out litter boxes, eight to be exact. All these at different locations through out the house and finished basement.
One day I decided to completely change out the large litter box in the utility room downstairs. And, I was going to Target that same day for some home supplies and pick up one container of litter their, just to replace the one litter box. I have been getting the light weight litter (easier to carry) for awhile now, and lasts longer then the regular.
Well, when I got to the pet section of the store, I was disappointed. They were out of my Tidy Cat Light Weight. So, since I only needed one container, I decided to get the Target brand, Up & Up. The best thing I thought, that is was cheaper. But, in the past cheaper didn’t always pan out to be better. And, I didn’t want to make another stop today.
Homeward Bound…
When I got home, I emptied the dirty litter and poured the entire small container into the litter box. It was closer to looking and feeling like sand, but not as fine; Way smaller granules than my Tidy Cat. I also noticed it had little to no dust (a plus in my book). This is a good start!
Usually, I try to keep up scooping daily, but some days become two, before scooping both up & down stairs. When I got to scooping the new UP & UP Litter, I noticed the majority of my scooping was from the new litter I just replaced. My cats seem to like this new litter better, to my amazement. Nothing like this has ever happened before over the course of years and different kitty litters I’ve used or tried. Guess cats prefer a sandbox over a litter box any day!
New & Improved…Kitty Litter
I decided right then and there! I would purchase more of the new UP & UP Litter to replace the old litter as it was used. So, I went online to target and ordered four large containers (17.5 lb. container each) delivered to my door.
Now, those litter boxes that have the new litter are being used way more than the ones with Tidy Cat. Soon, they will all have the new litter. Happy Cats & Happy Me!
- The Smell is reduced!
- The Dust has been reduced!
- And, the tracking of the litter has been reduced greatly, as well! (Not so with Tidy Cat & spent tons of time sweeping up around all the litter boxes! Not so much anymore)
- Best of all, each container of UP & UP Litter is almost half the price of what I was paying before!!! Wow, nice savings too.
Final Thoughts…
I am so happy I accidently found this new litter. It is a win win for my cats and for me. I don’t even mind scooping as much as I used too!
