Tour of Textile Arts Gallery E

Entertainment continuing on with our Tour of Textile Arts Gallery E. This gallery I’ve chosen to show you some recent crochet projects that are double-sided, meaning a different pattern on each side. These are some very interesting looking throws. And they were super fun to create.

So, let me introduce to you the first one here. It’s done with simple stitches; both double crochet and single crochet. Best of all, to get the look, it’s done in single rows. Each row is done in a different color.

Alternating double crochet and single crochet stitches makes it fast and easy to create. But, covering up the single crochet in the below row gives it such visual interest. That’s the beauty and simplicity of the pattern. It was so fun playing with the color variations.

Leaving a tail of yarn at the beginning and the end of the rows gives you a great finished edge, as you go. This way when you’re done crocheting, the edging is already completed. Definitely a plus. I just love how it turned out and was able to use up a lot of leftover yarn.

Now, for the next project, and another double-sided throw. These usually consist of a front side and a back side of the project. Also, these are worked, from the front only. This is not using a back and forth movement when creating this type of project.

“Square Radiant Flower Throw”

In a sparkly soft orange yarn and a similar brown, the pictures do not do it justice. Also, the pic of the back is harder to show the difference from that of the front. All made by holding two strands of yarn together, while using a larger crochet hook. The project goes much quicker this way.

And the fact that it’s a simple granny square, it makes a bigger impact when creating that somewhat larger than life look. Then, using the two strands gives a super chunky appearance. Along with the softness of the yarn, it could just make it a favorite!

Another double sided project is definitely a recent favorite. Probably due to the fact that I created it myself. And, I wrote up the instructions of how-to and put them here at 2g86.com for the whole community to have my FREE CROCHET PATTERN for;

I will show you here the front and back of this pattern. However, you can get more information about this project on its own page with the free pattern contained within. A little tidbit is that it comes from the old ticking material used for making hand towels,  table coverings, and even kitchen curtains.

Furthermore, it’s so hard to find only one favorite, as each I truly love as I’m working on them. Each brings me joy in a different way for different reasons. Others were just plain fun and interesting creations, with a twist of artistic talents, at least a little.

And, just for those of you that have been keeping up here, I am not even close to adding the pages I have completed projects for; just need to write them. Thanks for hanging with the growth of Koni’s Curious Corner of the internet at 2g86.com!
